Friends Are Very Rare Jewels, Indeed..

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all.
He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.. He said, ‘You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.
Remember that friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us.’

  1. oh this is just a wonderful post. Too much anger going around these days..so many people scared and frustrated..me also..its been a rough road for me for a long time now...but I've learned so much about myself and "the lessons".

Sometimes anger arises out of frustration and people that hurt or take advantage of others..but I tend to play music and "dance it out"..it's good therapy for me..and seems to work..peaceful music to calm me down and take deep breaths and fast moving or rock or whatever music to "shake the hurt and anger out"...it does seem to work..we all do have to let our frustrations out in some ways..it's not health to hold it all in either..so "Rock on"!..or walk, or run, just let it out before it festers..

Thanks for the great post and letting me share my thoughts here Yang Jun.

  3. Rhiannon.. I totally agree with you with letting our frustration out.. I also use music most of the time.. The Music Groups that help me the most in this are: Nuttin' But Strings, and Escala..
But I want to share a story of my own life with you.. There was a time that I was so frustrated and hopeless and no music or anything else could not help me.. Then a very close friend of mine gave me a real nice advice.. She told me that for letting sadness go first you have to learn how to be happy.. Not expecting others to make you happy.. She meant I should learn how to be happy on my own.. Then I started my journey of change.. I started searching inside myself, looking for things that I had not discovered them yet.. And yes, it was helping me to grow up a little bit more.. I love the feeling that it gives you when you realize that you are changing to a better and stronger person.. And then I realized many new potentials inside myself that I was not aware of them before that..
I told you all this to get to this point that what finally helped me to win the fight with frustration was that I Started to Believe in Myself.. That's the key Rhiannon and all my dear friends.. If you believe in yourself, you get the power to love yoursef and that's when you can deeply love the world around you.. And as a result of that you will become able to learn how to be happy standing on your own feet..
All my dear dear friends LOVE YOURSELVES TOOO MUCH :)..
    Love You All:
    Pouria (Yang Jun)

  5. I agree with you Yang Jun...you have to learn to be happy on your own. Getting to know who you are is most important..loving yourself. I've struggled without a family support frame of any kind for so many years..but I"know" who I am..and I am happy with me...I like who I am...and am very independent because I've had to be..so your friend is right, once we are happy (and comfortable)with ourselves we will maybe draw more loving people into our lives. Don't you think. Going "within" has really been my saving grace..connecting to a meditation and an "essence" of spirituality..not religion but something else, not easy to explain but easy to "feel' it around me.

Thanks for opening up and sharing..it makes me "happy"!..:o)

  9. "Nowhere Kids" and "Every Sunday" from their first cd "Smile Empty Soul" are great songs..you might want to check them out on youtube..I think those two songs are in there..let me know what you think. I did have a post of their "nowhere kids" song somewhere in my blog in the past. Do you like Eve 6 or Coldplay or The Killers? I like quite a few Eminem songs.

I like to always keep up with music don't stay "Stuck" from my generation, I love to keep growing and learning and get along with the younger generation quite well.

  10. Yeah I like those songs.. Also the music video of Nowhere kids.. Their view to religion is something that we don't usually see in good music bands..
I have to confess that it really was so unexpected for me to get information about these groups from you.. Haha.. It's so great that you keep up with the young generation.. I really adore your kind of people :)..

  12. I have heard this story before. Sometimes, we tend to be temperamental especially when things don't work out and we will be out of control. After we did something bad, the feeling of regret will arise. As long we lose our temper with a right way by not hurting anyone around us, it will be fine. =D Listening to music really helps. It soothes us with their melodies. You can try this out!

    Twilight original soundtracks- bella's lullaby
